Building Web sites gotcha down?

It seems that EVERYONE has a web site these days and wherever you look you can join this or join that to make money on the Internet and there are promises of making fabulous fortunes at this or at that... BUT... What happens if you don't have the slightest clue of how any of it works? Or what if you do know a little but you are still stuck and have no idea of where to go?

Hey, I hear what you are saying!! I have been there and done that. In the beginning...(well at least my beginning on the Internet

) I had a friend that was going to build a site for me...two years later, after he wouldn't go lower than 4000 Euros I found some one that would do it for 2000 Euros. (The problem is that they didn't tell me all of the hidden costs that they would later charge. For instance 72 Euros for an FTP account that I had no clue how to use and 500 Euros for the hosting account!!) And when I needed something done, "well you just need to pay 100 Euros more and then we can do it." GET LOST!!!! THIS IS WHEN I DECIDED THAT I HAD TO LEARN.

So I began to search the web for others who could enlighten me, and lo and behold I found a few... A few more people who wanted to do a little and charge a LOT. But then I had one guy tell me that I could check out this chap in England. Now before we go any further... I must tell you that this fellow in England IS extremely busy, but he does an excellent job.

I am not going to tell you his name. All I can say is that according to Google, Yahoo, MSN and about 60 other English speaking search engines, and ME, OF COURSE! ...he is "The coolest guy in the UK"... But don't take my word for it, do the search yourself. Any way I checked him out and found his phone number and gave him a call. And guess what? He had just come in from playing golf!

Bingo!! I got an idea! Invite the chap down to sunny Spain for a game of golf. In fact, I live just 10 minutes from a PGA golf course! And since Ryanair flys right to the town I live in he can pop on down for a day, and I would even drag his clubs around the golf course FREE of charge!!

(Ok, I told on myself, NO I DON'T PLAY GOLF. That is my other 2 brothers. But hey what the heck? Someone has got to be the caddy!

Geez, don't be silly...not everyone in the family has to be fricken golf experts! So I leave that up to them, I spend too much time in front of this *#@!! computer to chase little balls around.)

Ok back to the story!!! Well I did chase a little ball (or several of them) and looked for them in the woods. Don't tell Andy I said that. Oops I told you his name. Dang I am making too many mistakes on the computer here and every time I put some whiteout on the screen the words just move out from behind it. Oh well. Andy became my mentor and put up with my thousands of silly questions and little by little the questions became fewer and fewer. Oh yeah, I still have my problems now and then but I work my way through them.

To make this long story ~~short~~ even longer...it would take too much whiteout and then when I closed the page I can't see what I am doing on the next project,

so I will get to the point. Andy and I are now partners in this web site Web Mastery Live. It has a ton of cool things that we are putting in on the inside. ) Any way I will give some free lessons away now and then also. (My time only goes so far!)
